up close

More of the sewing process. Trying to blow Jodie's mind with more pics of me actually using pins. And if you are wondering about the frayed edges, yes they are. That was the plan and I'm very happy with it.

sewing again

There's a lot of inspirational people sewing in blogland. I think I lost my sewing mojo a while ago. Happy to report it's back (well, for today).

35 + 5 years

A new camera, after 5 years of using a little point and shot. I now feel like a grown up with my own digital SLR (Olympus PEN E-PL1). Big thanks to my generous family and friends that put together to purchase this.
And finally, my frangipani flowered. I was given this over 5 years ago by a dear friend. It was only a 10cm stick in a pot, now nearly taller than me, and it flowered over my birthday.

they're back

My snow dome collection has just doubled. And this can only mean one thing... Mum and Dad have returned from their big trip. Welcome home!

production

The house of Doran is about to get busy. Very busy. I put my hand up for two markets next month in two states. Not sure what I was thinking. So the ideas are starting to flow on what to sell. Firstly I received production of my new yardage print 'Sampler Border'. VERY happy.

Secondly, I received a small sachet of lavender from my neighbour as a birthday gift. This got me thinking about ways to improve the old drawstring lavender pouch. A few prototypes (the dud ones are now hanging in my cupboard) and sketches later and we have 'Lavender Bunnies'. Made with handprinted fabrics and lavender grown in Australia.
If you can't make it to either of the markets (look over there on the sidebar), I have listed the new fabrics in my shop with FREE postage. You might also notice my tea towels have free postage too.

small world

I have known Susana for a few years now. Our kids go to the same school. She's also a crafty lady doing what she loves while raising her family. I walk past her house almost every day as I try and get some exercise in the mornings. Then a few months back I met a new crafty girl, Helen. Would you believe, she lives opposite Susana. And if it wasn't for meeting Mel (who lives a few suburbs away) at an Amy Butler evening in Sydney... I would never have worked all this out. Small world indeed.

the day

It came, it went and now I'm older and have a fancy new camera with art filters to show for it (plus I swear a few new wrinkles landed on my face overnight).
